Lounging around with porn

Next time you are lounging around your home here in South Africa, it would be better to stay away from your TV remote.

Last night as we were preparing for bed, my wife was clicking through all of 5 channels on TV and came upon a show called the L-Word on one of our pay channels M-NET. My wife quickly called me over to see what was going on in this program. Here were two women having sex all over the screen with breasts bouncing and heavy breathing. The whole nine yards! For those who do not know, this is another of “those” shows where the sanitized lifestyles of lesbians are up for viewing. I cannot imagine why people would sit through a complete episode of such depraved lifestyles. Such a person must be so depraved and at the bottom of the human rung that something like this could be acceptable!

Then, one of our other channels, eTV (free channel), will be subpoenaed to appear before the South African parliament’s home affairs portfolio committee after failing to attend a hearing on pornography on Tuesday. eTV loves putting all kinds of smut on the air calling it “advertising.”

I am glad to see that African Christian Democratic Party MP (Member of Parliament) Steve Swart called for the subpoenaing of both e.tv and The Voice (newspaper) – a motion which is backed by the rest of the committee.

This is the problem I have with legalizing things like pornography. Because it is now legal, people will start thinking that it would be OK to shove it down everybody’s throats. It seems that legalizing something empties people of their own ethics. Free speech without accountability is not free speech. It is equal to theft! When such vile offensive “speech” is shoved down my throat via a medium that is paid for by society, then society’s “hearing” space was stolen! If I have a piece of ground and you park your vehicle on that piece of ground, you are in effect stealing ground from me. The same applies to this so-called free speech. If you shove your vile “free-speech” into my living room (enter your own space here) you are in effect stealing part of my living space!

Back in 1996 when parliament was hearing recommendations from interested parties about the prospects of making porn legal in this country, only 4% of these groups recommended that porn be made legal and 96% were against it. Yet, the wonderful liberation party (ANC), decided to go against the wishes of the people and made porn legal. The facts of porn are quite open for all to objectively study. The majority, by far, of sexual offences and murders related to sexual offences are preceded by the consumption of pornography!

If TV and radio stations are not willing to be responsible and accountable for what is being put on the air, they should not be fined… No, that is too easy! They need to lose their licences to air their wares!

Divorce society from the Bible and you end up with a society which finds Jesus offensive, but finds vile, disgusting, corrupt, degenerate, evil, filthy, nauseating, abominable, abhorrent, atrocious, awful, beastly and contemptible acts as acceptable!

In the end evil will be called good and good will be called evil!

It is happening right in front of our eyes!

Just thinking

Turning on the TV should not be a sign to these godless people that they now may violate my space! That same argument can be used in public schools. Because a child is in public school we can’t blame the system for stealing their innocence from them. They should just not be in public schools! With that argument we will end up not going anywhere, since evil is so pervasive. We are, after all going to malls, work places, etc. Just don’t go there!

Porn is just another manifestation of a godless worldview. The standard offerings of TV all reflect such a worldview. So by putting this stuff on TV, they’re not really stealing anything from you since you give it to them. You are, after all, turning on the TV.
